About the Author
Dr. Kurtz is currently Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Factor Chair in Molecular Nephrology at UCLA. He is a professor of Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Kurtz received his medical training and residency training at the University of Toronto. He completed his Nephrology fellowship at UCSF and a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH. Dr. Kurtz has been on faculty at UCLA since 1985.

Interesting, methodical approach to acid-base problems. The book provides an variety of scenarios that can be quickly worked out. The author concedes that there are some "shortcuts" in the evaluation of these problems, but the simplicity added results in an easy algorithm

Great review of cases in order to refresh your general knowledge of Acid-Base disorders. Great teaching tool. Recommend it to any Fellow in Nephrology or Pulmonary-Critical Care for Board prep.
